Time To Drain The Swamp

Memphis , TN   -  December 12, 2006 - In light of the serious allegations surrounding the purchase of votes within the Memphis City Council, Tom Guleff , founder of JoeCitizens.com, is calling upon all elected officials to publicly provide their campaign disclosure data in electronic form by the end of the year. "It is time to drain the swamp and start publicly examining the relationships between those who serve the public and those who serve themselves."

"We strongly encourage our local officials on the Memphis City Council and the County Commission to provide their campaign disclosure information electronically to Votinginmemphis.com," says Guleff. This will ensure fair and validated information straight from the candidates.  Let’s bring this type of reporting into the 21^st century. Ultimately, this will allow the hard working citizens of Shelby County to review the campaign disclosures of all local elected officials free from the harassment and red tape of the Election Commission system.

Recently, public trust has been shattered by those who have been trusted to do the right thing. Individuals on these governing bodies must break away from the corrupting influence that tempts those in power. We need our most honest public servants to hold fast to the ideals of selfless public service and rid the system of corruption and political favor.
